Our entry into the sugar trade was somewhat fortuitous. Initially, we were suppliers of cereals for the Heineken group, and it was for the production of certain beverages that they first requested sugar from us. Faced with a particularly large order, we found ourselves in need of a supplier who could not only deliver the required quantities promptly but also meet the exacting specifications required for acceptance.
It was during this search that we encountered the challenges familiar to any sugar buyer: finding reliable suppliers amidst a sea of intermediaries offering exorbitant prices, encountering fraudsters posing as direct suppliers with implausible payment terms, and dealing with direct suppliers who were unwilling to accept new orders without prior engagement.
By a stroke of luck, a junior member of our team had a relative in Brazil who was involved in the sugar industry, working with one of the country’s largest sugar factories.
We established and secured agreements with this connection, thoroughly vetting the specifications and legal aspects, and now we collaborate closely with them to the satisfaction of all involved parties.
We are pleased to offer our customers a smoother experience than the one we initially faced.
